Last few exams before I'm officially a grown up. Criminal and Employment were fine but have a feeling in my water that I'll being seeing Civil Litigation again, haven't booked anything for August let's put it that way. Summer is truly here so am flip flopping to every venue and have had my holiday at home in the park on the front step and at the pool. It's been lovely actually but may have had more of a festival atmosphere if it hadn't been for the interludes of the Employment Rights Act and Criminal Justice Act 2003

Guess I should have seen that coming after the title 'DHW odd' I have bad back and am very short on patience. Probably good to clear the air though isn't it I think bravely. He said I had the stomach of an elephant and the air of a friend or something to that effect. Think I could have been hugely insulted but could see the truth in it so demurred. I have the back of an old woman that's for sure truly and royally hacked off with it now. Have had a rainbow of clients from all over the world this week, have been kissed by an Italian grandma, tried hard to calm a very angry South African down and talked at length about cabbage with a Pole. Typical week really.

Criminal law firms are all really bizarre and now that I have accepted that I have settled in ever so much better. Client's are good and colleagues are not bad. Have been set a fees target that couldn't be met by Bill Gates if he was doing my job but am keeping it in perspective because reasonableness is only in caselaw.

My God how hard is it to do the minor sensible thing. Met true resistance today on the most trivial issue imaginable because everyone had been doing it one way for a long time and couldn't make an ajustment. Felt briefly like being at some sort of show because couldn't relate but found the whole thing mildly entertaining. When does the classy law office kick in with the leather bound desk and musty law books, hey, when does that kick in.

Shook everybody's hand, met like fifty people even befriended the police it's going to be brilliant I think. Still smarting from a very rocky civil litigation exam which I think I may be seeing again in August. MW is good though, all good.
